When your baby starts solids, you know you have to expect the mess: food on your baby, the high chair, the floor, and their clothes. But after endless scrubbing and piles of ruined shirts, anyone would lose their mind.
That was me.
When I started solids with my daughter, I was going insane and I was exhausted. Her shirts were destroyed after every meal, despite all attempts at preventing leaks past her bibs. So it didn’t take long for us to get stuck in a cycle of bad moods and bad stains.
I realized something needed to change, fast, so we could turn mealtimes around. Little did I know, the answer would come in the form of a single handmade bib alternative that I would create out of desperation - and that bib would end up helping parents everywhere.
The problem is that traditional bibs just don’t work. Trust me, I’ve tried them all. After a while I was finally able to pinpoint the fatal flaw - when bibs fasten around the neck, they’re leaving an opportunity for wet food and drool to dribble right past the collar and it ends up on your baby’s shirt instead of the bib.
It didn’t matter what material it was or how close fitting it was to her neck - every time I peeled that bib off, her neckline was covered in food and soaked from drool.
My first solution was to remove the shirt entirely, but my poor daughter’s sensitive skin broke out instantly from contact with food and the high chair straps. Then I figured, if I only feed her in the shirts I don’t care about, maybe it won’t matter so much. Still, the stains continued to haunt me. Even worse, getting my hungry daughter changed into different clothes before a meal put everyone in a terrible mood.
So there I was, back to square one, knowing those unavoidable stains would end up plaguing her shirts once again and I couldn’t take it anymore. If I was going to solve this problem, I needed to come up with an alternative to the bib.
The bib has been largely the same forever, but I was starting to believe that the person who invented the bib, had never actually experienced feeding a real baby. Besides, it doesn't actually make sense to put a bib around the baby’s neck when it was their shirt you really wanted to save.
That’s when it hit me: I needed a bib to fasten to my baby’s shirt instead.
I told my husband to watch our daughter - I just needed thirty minutes. Upstairs in my attic, alone with my old sewing machine, some scrap fabric, and a spare onesie I held my creation in my hands.
A different kind of bib-like alternative, designed specifically to fold over the edge of a baby’s shirt and fasten through the sleeves to keep it in place. I couldn’t wait to try it out at the next meal and to my surprise and profound satisfaction: it actually worked.
Over the next several months, I sewed countless prototypes - finding the right fabrics, adding waterproof layers, tweaking coverage, and adjusting fit - until I finally landed on the design that worked every time.
It didn’t take long at all for me to realize, I couldn’t keep this secret from other parents. What I made, it wasn’t just another regular bib and it didn’t just save me a bit of laundry… It was a whole new product and it saved my sanity. Gone were the days of stressing over meals and the mess on her clothing that followed. I was finally able to sit down with my daughter and eat with her, without anxiety but full of pride and joy.
So I set off to patent my own invention, something I never thought I’d ever do in my life. Eventually, I had to stop calling it “that thing I made” - it deserved its own name. Not “bib” but similar… and the name Bibbler just felt so perfect. Now, it’s even trademarked.

Next thing I know the Bibbler was officially patent pending and then it was time to go public. I offered free handmade samples to anyone who had a baby around the starting solids age and I posted videos of my invention on Instagram. The response was astounding.

Even though I knew how much the Bibbler helped me, I couldn’t believe how many people wanted to try it and how much they loved it. Not just one, but two of my reels went viral on Instagram.
It was always the goal to go into manufacturing, a mom can only hand-make so many pieces… but now the pressure was on. I spent months sampling with half a dozen different factories, hoping to find the best quality and pricing - all with low minimums that a small, independent business like myself could take on. Fast forward to today, September 2025 and production is nearly complete!
I truly believe that mealtimes should be filled with excitement and laughter - not stress and extra laundry. The Bibbler is so much more than a silly mom-invented bib, it’s a game changer. It’s a small change that makes a huge impact - and that impact will be easy to see every time you pull a clean shirt out of the laundry.
